GRADING SYMBOLS

CR/P     - Indicates a grade of “C” or better and is not used in calculating GPA. A student may take up to 15 units of credit courses, not in their major field of study, of the 60 units required for graduation. The 15 units are counted as units completed.

NC/NP  - Indicates less than satisfactory or failing and is not used in calculating GPA.

W          - Indicates withdrawal from a class.

MW       - Indicates withdrawal from a class due to military deployment.

I            - Is a symbol indicating incomplete work and is not used in calculating GPA.

IP          - Indicates courses that are currently in-progress and is not used in calculating GPA.

RD        - Is a temporary symbol to be replaced as soon as possible and is not used in calculating GPA.

BR        - Is a symbol used to denote that the class extends beyond the normal end of an academic term. Unit credit shall appear on the student’s record for the term in which the course is completed.

X           - Was a symbol used prior to 7/81 to indicate work not completed. It was considered a “W” subsequent to one year after the date of issuance unless work was completed during that time.

REPEATS
Courses in which a substandard grade of D, F, or NC/NP was issued may be repeated two times. Only the units and the grade for the course taken most recently will be used to compute the GPA and to count for degree or certificate requirements. Effective Fall Semester 2007.

ACCREDITATION

Crafton Hills College is fully accredited by the following:

·      Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.

·      Committee on Accreditation of educational programs for the EMS Profession (CoAEMSP)

·      The Office of the State Fire Marshall (SFM)

·      Committee on the Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)

·      Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)

 

APPROVALS

Approved for the training of veterans and/or eligible persons.

 

ACADEMIC YEAR/CALENDAR

Crafton Hills College is a two-year community college which offers classes on the semester system throughout the academic year.  The fall and spring semesters are eighteen weeks in length; the summer semester is five, six, seven or eight weeks.  One unit of credit represents 16 hours of lecture or 48 hours of laboratory work. All Crafton semesters operate under the same Curriculum and Accreditation Standards.

 

NUMBERING OF COURSES

010 – 099 Multipurpose courses, but not generally applicable to the Baccalaureate degree.

100 – 299 Basic lower division courses applicable to the Associate degree; may also apply to the Baccalaureate degree.

500 – 599 Continuing education courses offered by an outside agency at an off-campus location. Courses are applicable to the Associate degree.

900 – 999 Courses not applicable to the Associate degree.

 

ACADEMIC HONORS / DISTINCTION

Crafton Hills College recognizes academic honors in the fall and spring semesters, and annually acknowledges those who graduate with honors.

Deans List – Student completed a semester of at least 12 units in courses awarding letter grades in which a GPA of 3.5 is earned.

Eligibility for Graduation with Honors/Distinction:

·      Student meets all graduation requirements.

·      Student achieves a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA in all college units attempted.

Eligibility for Graduation with Highest Honors/Highest Distinction:

·      Student meets all graduation requirements.

·      Student achieves a 4.0 cumulative GPA in all college units attempted.

 

ACADEMIC PROBATION AND DISQUALIFICATION

Students who do not maintain a satisfactory grade point average or course completion ratio are placed on probation and may become subject to dismissal.

 

ACADEMIC RENEWAL

A Student may petition to have any units and credits taken during two consecutive semesters eliminated from computation of the total GPA, not to exceed 30 units – (See college catalog for current policies and procedures).
