Credit for Prior Learning
Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) allows students to earn college credit for skills and knowledge they've already gained outside of a traditional classroom. This may include learning acquired through:
- Work experience or job training
- Military service or training
- Industry-recognized certifications or licensures
- Standardized exams (such as AP, CLEP, or IB)
- Student-created portfolios
- Internships or apprenticeships
CPL helps students save time and money by applying prior learning toward degree or certificate programs at Crafton Hills College. Credit is awarded only for college-level learning that is related to an active program of study, and all CPL requests are subject to faculty review and approval.
Authorized assessments may include:
- Evaluation of official standardized exam scores
- Review of verified industry credentials or military transcripts
- Portfolio assessment
- Credit by examination for eligible courses
To explore your CPL options, we recommend meeting with a counselor to review your educational goals and determine which CPL opportunities may apply to you.
