Accessible PDFs

  • Accessible pdf files can be generated from well-formatted Word docs.
  • Creating a pdf from a photo will not make it accessible.
  • If a pdf contains text in which individual words cannot be selected by your mouse, then the pdf is not accessible.

Accessible Images

  • Always include alt text to describe the content of images.  For images which display text, the alt text must duplicate the content of the text on the image.

Tables

Do not use tables to display text or images in a certain layout, or to create margins. Tables should only be used for data that can be effectiely displayed in a table.
