Archaeology Field Trip

With the help of the CHC Foundation, seven Crafton Hills College Archaeology students and three faculty members toured the Southwest's major archaeological sites on an 8 night tour through Arizona, Utah,
Colorado, and New Mexico. Anthropology professor, Cheryl DiBartolo, Math professor Sherri Wilson, and
Counselor Robert McAtee led the trip in June.

The group visited the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Four Corners Monument, Mesa Verde National Park,
and Chaco Canyon. A highlight of the trip was a private all day tour of Crow Canyon Archaeological Center,
where students and faculty met with working archaeologists on site and toured the facilities on campus. They
hiked the Grand Canyon to see ancient pictographs and petroglyphs, climbed 30 foot ladders to tour the cliff
dwellings of the Ancestral Puebloans at Mesa Verde, and took a moon walk tour of the remarkably well
preserved 1000 year old ruins at Chaco Canyon, making lots of memories and great meals by the campfire.
