January 10th

Spring 2024 In-service will return to campus for all workshops and activities.

This workshop is designed to help peer evaluators recognize and interrupt bias when evaluating a peer’s teaching as part of promotion, tenure, and reappointment processes. This workshop will also provide a toolkit on how to observe and assess peers on their DEIA efforts and make thoughtful recommendations for growth.

SBCCD has been on WebAdvisor for over 20 years and the product is now at the end of its life.  TESS and various functional areas have been involved in a project to migrate from WebAdvisor to Self-Service and that project is nearing completion.  Come learn about how this new platform will serve our students, faculty, and counselors.

This EEO training will explore anti-discrimination law,  the role of the hiring committee, personality identity, and strategies for decreasing instances of bias within the hiring process. Completing this session will fulfill your EEO training requirement for two years.

Join us to discuss ideas from the book Grading for Equity by Joe Feldman. 

This workshop supports the following objectives:  

  • To develop grading practices that accurately reflect student competency and understanding of the course objectives and outcomes. 
  • To develop grading practices that are bias and noise resistant to support DEIAA
  • To develop grading practices that support growth mindset and learning

Zines are small brochure-like DIY creations of self-expression. At CHC, several faculty members are using these as assignment alternatives in their classes. Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll have fun making a zine.
