What is the Go Smart Program?

The GoSmart Program allows eligible students to ride all of the OmniTrans fixed route bus services at no charge by using their student ID. Students eligible to use the pre-qualified OmniTrans Access para-transit service may purchase one-way tickets at a twenty percent discount. Students must be actively enrolled in one or more units to qualify. Contact OmniTrans Pass Sales at 909-379-7100 for details.

Who pays the transportation fee?

All students enrolled in courses during the fall and spring semesters. The only exception is if you are an enrolled students carrying zero (0) units - you do not pay the transportation fee. However, if you do not pay the transportation fee, you are not eligible for the GoSmart Program.

How much is the transportation fee?

During fall and spring semesters:

  • Students enrolled in six (6) or more units (district wide) - $9.00 per semester.
  • Students enrolled in less than six (6) units (district wide) - $8.00 per semester.

During the summer semester:

  • Students enrolled in six (6) or more units (district wide) - $5.00 per semester.
  • Students enrolled in less than six (6) units (district wide) - $6.00 per semester.

What does the transportation fee provide?

Students are eligible to participate in the GoSmart Program for use of OmniTrans bus transportation during the semester in which they pay the transportation fee.

What are the effective dates of the Go Smart Program?

Fall semester: August 1 (or first business day following) through December 31 (or first business day following)

Spring semester: January 2 (or first business day following) through May 31 (or first business day following)

Summer semester: June 1 (or first business day following) through July 31 (or first business day following)

How soon after registering for classes can I start using OmniTrans?

You may begin using OmniTrans during the effective dates (as listed above). If you first register for classes during late registration it could take up to two business days to activate your status.

What if I drop all my courses in the semester, am I still eligible to ride the bus?

No. Any student who withdraws or is dismissed due to discuplinary action from the college or decreases their number of units to zero shall no longer be eligible for the program, regardless of fee payment.

What if I don't have a student ID?

You must have a student ID to participate in the GoSmart Program and ride the bus. If you do not have an ID, you can obtain one by going to Student Life during business hours. Student Life is located across from Admissions and Records.

What if I lost my student ID?

You can obtain a replacement student ID in the Student Life office.

What if I'm told my student ID does not work?

Your bus driver should tell you why your card does not work. You will need that information to know how to troubleshoot resolving your situation.

I was told I am on the bad list, what does that mean?

If your student ID is not accepted and the driver tells you that you are on the bad list that means that you are not eligible for the GoSmart Program. You are either not enrolled in any courses or you just recently enrolled and paid the transportation fee and have not yet been added to the list of eligible students. If you enroll after the first day of the semester of full-term classes it could take up to two business days to add you to the list of eligible students.

Who do I contact with problems about using the bus?

Contact Student Life with any problems using the GoSmart Program. Please be prepared to provide the scheduled pick-up time of the bus, the route number, and the bus driver badge number (if possible). No action can be taken without the pick-up time and route number.

Who do I contact with questions about the program?

Contact Student Life at 909-389-3410 with questions.
