Housing Support
CHC's Basic Needs Center provides connection to community resources and support for homeless and at-risk students within the college.
Services Include:
- Referral to EOPS, Counseling, Health & Wellness Center, Career Center, and other college services
- Financial Aid and Admissions assistance
- Connection to CHC's Food Pantry
- Assistance applying for public benefits to address housing, food, and financial needs
- Referral to resources for academic success
Tenant-Based Voucher Rental Assistance Program
The Tenant-Based Voucher Rental Assistance Program, formally known as Section 8 and the Housing Choice Voucher Program, provides eligible low-income households with rental assistance to lease a home or apartment of their choice from a landlord in the regular rental market.Households assisted under this program are placed into either one of the following sub-programs to better serve the various populations on our programs:Term-Limited Lease Assistance Program – which provides new non-senior/non-disabled households rental assistance for five years.- Eviction/Foreclosure Prevention Assistance

Homelessness Definition:
The federal McKinney-Vento Act defines homeless students as those who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence. They may:
Share the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a
similar reason
Be living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, shelters, or awaiting foster care placement
Have a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not designed
for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings
Be living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing,
bus or train stations, or similar settings
