A Foundation For Success
For more than 50 years, the Crafton Hills College Foundation has supported CHC in advancing the educational, career and personal success of our diverse campus community. The Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax-deductible.
Your investment will make a significant difference in the life of a student, like the difference being made by Forrest and Valorie Greek.
The LEGACY of FORREST & VALORIE GREEK
Forrest’s connection to Crafton Hills College began decades ago when he and his first wife took classes on campus, united by a love of learning. Years later, when tragedy struck, first with the passing of his daughter, Kirsten, then his mother, and then his wife. Forrest found himself adrift.
But hope has a way of finding its way back. Valorie, a lifelong educator and friend from his past, reentered Forrest’s life at just the right time. Together, they began a new chapter, one filled with compassion, optimism, and renewed purpose.
One of the first things they talked about was a dream Forrest had long shared with
his late wife: creating a scholarship in memory of their daughter, Kirsten, a Crafton
Hills College graduate and dedicated respiratory therapist. Working with the Crafton
Hills College Foundation, the Greeks established the Kirsten Greek Memorial Respiratory
Care Scholarship, along with additional scholarships for the Fire Academy and Child
Development programs. In 2023, the college named its Respiratory Care classroom in
Kirsten’s honor, a fitting tribute to a life dedicated to healing others.
Their generosity has since grown into an endowment ensuring these programs thrive for years to come. Knowing that many Respiratory Care students struggle with exam and licensing fees, the Greeks now help fund those costs for every graduate—helping them move directly from classroom to career. “We wanted to do something that would last,” Valorie says. “It’s wonderful to know we can help make that happen.”
Giving back, they say, has transformed them, too. “I’ve traveled all over the world,” Forrest reflects, “but I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything as powerful as the feeling that comes from knowing you’ve made a real difference in someone’s life.”
Through every student they support, Forrest and Valorie continue to “touch the future,” ensuring Kirsten’s light shines on at Crafton Hills College. Thanks to thousands of generous donors, including alumni, students can build a better future—because every gift, from $5 to $5,000, helps turn struggles into triumphs.
“I really appreciate the donors, the scholarships. It shows that there are people
in the community that care.”
