We host a variety of skillshops designed to help MESA students’ professional development,
including skillshops for resume and CV writing, creating a research poster, and REU
informational presentations.
We strive to provide the opportunity for MESA students to attend conferences aimed
at student professional development such as
MESA Student Leadership Retreat
SACNAS (Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanic and Native Americans in Science)
SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers)
And more!
MESA students are given the opportunity to tour professional work sites (such as our
local GIS mapping industry leader, ESRI) and university campuses (such as CSUSB, UCR,
Cal Poly Pomona, and others)
Academic Enrichment
SI sessions, study groups, and support sessions are held in the STEM Center throughout
the year.
Academic Excellence Workshops: various faculty-led workshops are held in the STEM
Center every semester

Counseling & Mentorship
MESA students are required to meet with the STEM counselor to develop and maintain
and ed plan every semester,
Additionally, MESA students are required to meet with the MESA director at least once
per semester for coaching, support, and guidance.
