San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) and Crafton Hills College (CHC) have both received the results of their follow-up Accreditation site visit and reporting cycle from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). Both schools have been removed from “warning” status and their accreditation status fully restored. All deficiencies from the fall 2014 comprehensive review have been resolved and both colleges now meet Eligibility Requirements, Accreditation Standards and Commission policies, according to communications from the president of the ACCJC.

President of the San Bernardino Community College District Board of Trustees John Longville expressed satisfaction that the hard work done by the faculty, staff and administrators of both colleges and the district office had been recognized by the ACCJC and that the Commission’s recommendations have been met. He said, “Providing a quality education for students in our service area is our focus. Our colleges have continued to offer excellent programs and services and we are looking forward to a wonderful 2016-17 academic year, beginning mid-August.”

Chancellor Bruce Baron said, “The decision rendered by the ACCJC reflects the joint efforts of our colleges and the district. We continued to move forward for the benefit of our students while the issues involving accreditation were being addressed. I specifically would like to thank the Accreditation Task Force, a district-wide team of faculty, staff and managers who worked to address each recommendation of the 2015 ACCJC decision, assisted the colleges and the district with their reports to the Commission and supported the sites with their visits from the accrediting teams. We recognize that the accreditation process supports continuous self-improvement by the colleges and district offices and is a valuable method of self-evaluation and we are very pleased to have received full status once again.”

Correspondence received from the ACCJC and the visiting teams’ reports is available on the site accreditation pages of each college’s website - ValleyCollege.edu and CraftonHills.edu early.
