Love and Information at CHC
Publish Date: Nov. 4, 2026

Crafton Hills College Theatre Arts Department is thrilled to present Caryl Churchill’s Love and Information.
First premiered in 2012, the play features over 50 short scenes featuring over 100 unnamed characters (played here by a cast of 8 actors). Each scene ruminates on the themes of intimacy, truth, and understanding amidst overwhelming data streams and fragmented communication in modern life. The play is unique in that it is written in seven sections – each containing clusters of scenes which may be rearranged in order to create meaning.
Caryl Churchill has long been one of the most celebrated and prolific British playwrights of the 20th and 21st centuries. Associated closely with the Royal Court Theatre and the Joint Stock Theatre Group, she is known for plays such as Cloud Nine, Top Girls, Serious Money, and Far Away. Her works typically interrogate feminism, socialism, and power with a distinctive blend of satire and theatrical innovation. Her writing resists naturalism, often fracturing chronology, language, and character to expose the absurdities of social and political life.
Director Caitlin Lopez states, “Producing Love and Information at Crafton has allowed our student actors to not only inhabit many different scenarios and characters, but also to flex their critical thinking skills as artists in analyzing the text and generating meaning in their scene work. One moment the actors are playing two conspiracy theorists conversing via walkie talkies in a bunker, the next they are a couple meeting one last time before fully parting ways for good. It’s fast paced, funny, and even touching!”
Love and Information runs November 13th & 14th at 8 pm, and November 15th at 2 pm at the Finkelstein Performing Arts Center. It is recommended for high school aged individuals and above for some adult language and content. Tickets available at www.craftonhills.edu/tickets
