Crafton Hills College Welcomes Employees Back for Fall 2026

Faculty and staff returned to Crafton Hills College on the morning of August 21 for Fall 2026 In-Service, an opportunity for the campus community to reconnect and prepare for the new academic year. The morning began with a video from the May 2026 commencement, setting a tone of pride and reflection.

President Kevin Horan welcomed the newest members of the Roadrunner family. This fall, Crafton welcomed nine new full-time classified professionals, three full-time tenure-track faculty and five full-time temporary faculty. The college also celebrated two administrators who recently moved from interim to permanent leadership roles.

Horan shared updates on the college’s continued progress, including a course success rate that has steadily increased over the past five years and significant growth in the number of Zero Textbook Cost course sections available to students. 

Additional presentations covered Fall 2026 enrollment, campus climate, the Educational Master Plan and projects and initiatives planned for the year ahead. Employees were also introduced to the 2026–2027 One Book/One College selection, American Sirens, which will be featured through book discussions, speakers, workshops and other activities throughout the year. 

The morning closed with remarks from Thea Lucas, a recent Crafton graduate who returned to college after nearly two decades away and rebuilt her life while earning degrees in mathematics and history. She shared how counselors, professors and staff supported her through difficult times and helped change the trajectory of her life and her children’s lives. Her remarks earned a standing ovation from the Crafton community.

Held twice a year, In-Service provides an opportunity for the Crafton community to come together, celebrate the work taking place across campus and renew its shared focus on student success.
