Etiquette Luncheon Connects Students with Industry Leaders and Career Opportunities
Publish Date: April 16, 2026
The Crafton Hills College Career Center hosted its annual Networking Etiquette Luncheon on Thursday, April 16, 2026. Designed to bridge the gap between education and employment, the luncheon provided students with valuable opportunities to network directly with local employers and industry professionals while learning essential workplace and communication skills. The event focused on helping students better understand current hiring trends, in-demand employability skills, professional pathways, and career opportunities available within the region.
Students were seated alongside employers and professionals representing a variety of industries aligned with their academic and career interests. Conversation starter prompts placed at each table encouraged meaningful dialogue and helped students practice professional networking skills in a supportive environment.
The luncheon opened with welcoming remarks from Crafton Hills College administration, followed by an interactive presentation on professional dining and networking etiquette led by Career Center Coordinator and Counselor Trinette Barrie. Students then enjoyed a catered lunch provided by Alfaro Catering while engaging in one-on-one conversations with employers about their future careers.
Following lunch, Job Developer Pedro Chabolla facilitated an energetic speed networking session that allowed students to connect with additional professionals across industries. Employers shared practical career readiness strategies designed to help students successfully transition into the workforce.
A special highlight of the luncheon was the recognition of Crafton Hills College alumna Maribel Santana, now serving as a Completion Coach in the University Transfer & Career Center. Santana shared her educational journey, reflecting on the uncertainty and fear she experienced during her first days as a college student and the determination that ultimately led her to success. She is now a Crafton Hills College graduate, a graduate of UC Irvine, and currently pursuing graduate studies at CSU Los Angeles.
Students responded enthusiastically to the event and emphasized the value of connecting directly with professionals in their fields of interest.
“My experience was really amazing,” said Portia Henderson. “This luncheon is such an enlightening experience in so many ways, especially learning how to properly engage in professional conversations and connect with others without distractions,” Henderson added.
Several employers donated prizes and gifts for students. Every student attendee also received a professional success kit that included a padfolio, journal, business card holder, portable beverage mug and portable battery as well as additional career-readiness resources to support their academic and professional journey.
The event has already led to tangible outcomes for students. Organizers confirmed that at least two students have secured employment opportunities as a direct result of attending the luncheon.
