On November 7, Crafton Hills College welcomed approximately 50 high school counselors from across the region for its annual Counselor’s Luncheon. The event was hosted by the CHC Outreach Team in partnership with the Counseling Department. Representatives from districts including Redlands Unified, Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified, Banning High School, and Rim of the World joined CHC staff to explore ways to best support their students preparing to transition into higher education.
During the luncheon, the counselors received updates from Counseling, Financial Aid, Honors, and EOPS, each highlighting important services available to incoming students. After the presentations, the counselors enjoyed a campus tour led by student ambassadors.
A feedback form was sent to all attendees after the event. One counselor wrote, “I enjoyed learning more about all the resources available to students. Hearing about them during the session and then getting to see them firsthand during the tour was very helpful.”
The participants also praised CHC’s student-centered approach, the event’s informative presentations—many noting the value of learning how AP courses are evaluated at the college level, and the opportunity to network with other counselors.
“The luncheon served as a collaborative space for counselors to ask questions, build connections with CHC staff, and learn about programs that can enhance student success,” said Willie Blackmon, Dean of Student Services.
“The event fostered meaningful dialogue, renewed partnerships, and a shared commitment to supporting future Roadrunners,” he added.
