Crafton Hills College Earns Top UC Transfer Ranking in Region for Third Straight Year
Publish Date: July 22, 2025

For the third consecutive year, Crafton Hills College (CHC) has been recognized as the top community college in Region 9 for University of California (UC) transfer admission rates, continuing its proud legacy of student achievement and equity in higher education. According to the latest data from the UC Information Center, CHC’s transfer admission rate for the 2024–2025 cycle rose to 78.99%, up from 73.68% the previous year.
CHC President Dr. Kevin Horan said that Crafton’s students’ success reflects the strength of our mission and our people. “This ranking is the result of intentional, equity-minded work and proves that when we align our efforts across the college, our students reach new heights.”
Even more noteworthy are the accomplishments of CHC’s disproportionately impacted student populations. Black and African American students achieved a 100% UC admission rate, and Latinx students were admitted at a rate of 81.03%—figures that emphasize Crafton’s deep commitment to equity and its efforts to close persistent opportunity gaps.
“These numbers tell a powerful story of equity in action,” said Dr. Delmy Spencer, CHC vice president of student services. “Crafton’s commitment to student-centered design, high-touch support and intentional outreach is making a measurable difference, especially for our Black and Latinx students.”
“This success story belongs to our entire campus community,” said Dr. Ivan Peña, dean of student services and counseling at Crafton. “From our classified professionals and instructional faculty to our dedicated counseling team, everyone played a role. Most of all, this is a reflection of our hard-working students—when we provide equitable opportunities, they rise to the occasion and continue to make us proud.”
CHC’s rise as a transfer leader is rooted in strategic, student-centered practices. Counselors and University Transfer Center staff regularly engage in UC training to stay current on transfer criteria, ensuring students receive timely and accurate guidance. Additionally, equity-focused initiatives and intentional outreach through our Student Success Team model have strengthened support systems for Latinx and African American students, contributing to the college’s standout results.
“We take great pride in being proactive and informed so that our students have every advantage when navigating the UC transfer process,” said Mariana Macamay, University Transfer Center faculty coordinator. “The trust we build with our students and the culturally responsive support we provide are at the heart of this success.”
This continued success affirms CHC’s role as a regional leader in higher education and transfer achievement, especially for students who have historically been underserved. With a mission grounded in inclusion and access, Crafton remains committed to creating transformative pathways that enable all students to achieve their academic and professional goals.
