Cheryl DiBartlo and Julie McKee took a group of 48 students and their friends from CHC Sociology and Anthropology classes on a journey to learn in a setting away from their normal classroom environment. On Saturday, October 5, the group rode the train to LA where they visited Olivera Street, went to the Japanese American Museum in Little Tokyo, visited a calligraphy exhibit, had some free time to shop and wander around, and some even went to China Town.  Students learned about the Japanese experience: pre-war, the internment camps and post war when many Japanese did not return to west coast but settled in the Midwest.
