  • This course discusses the history and overview of sleep medicine and the role of the polysomnography technician. Introduction to the physiology of sleep and indications, contraindications, purposes and hazards of polysomnographic care modalities. Students will gain knowledge related to the normal development of sleep patterns, sleep disorders and how to score sleep disorders and respiratory patterns, as well as treatment, and outcome management of sleep-disorder breathing.

    • Credit Type: Earned units for this course are applicable to an Associate Degree.
    • Prerequisite: Acceptance into the BSRC program and associate degree in respiratory care from an accredited college.
