  • Theoretical application of diagnostic techniques, equipment, and procedures based on the national Clinical Practice Guidelines as well as local standards of practice. Provides basic preparation of the respiratory care student consisting of: an introduction to basic respiratory physiology, pharmacology, arterial blood gas interpretation, regulation of breathing, and basis for treatment modalities, including physical principles relating to medical gases and equipment and solutions for body electrolytes.

    • Credit Type: Earned units for this course are applicable to an Associate Degree.
    • Transferability: Course credit transfers to CSU.
    • Prerequisite: RESP 051.
