  • Study of the literature, plays, poetry, film, and lyrics representative of Latino/Chicano literature. This course includes written analyses. Students analyze the literature and apply critical theory to describe critical events in the histories, cultures, and intellectual and literary traditions, with special focus on the lived experiences, social struggles, and contributions of Latino/a Americans in the United States. This course is offered as ENGL 163 and ETHS 163.

    • Credit Type: Earned units for this course are applicable to an Associate Degree.
    • Transferability: Course credit transfers to both CSU and UC.
    • Prerequisite: ENGL C1000 or ENGL C1000H (formerly ENGL 101 and ENGL 101H).
