Questions About the Program

When and where will the courses be offered?

  • Courses will be held after school at CVHS, REV, and RHS, beginning August 16th
  • RUSD students may enroll in the CHC courses at any of the RUSD locations
  • High school websites, the Crafton Partnership Website, and the RUSD Dual Enrollment website, have the full listing of courses posted, including sites, times, and room locations
  • Courses run from August 16th through the week of December 5th  

What are the requirements of students to enroll in the courses?

  • Be in the 11th or 12th grade in high school by the first class session
  • Be a junior or senior in high school
  • Have the recommendation of their high school principal or counselor.
  • Have the consent of a parent or guardian if student is under age 18.
  • Have demonstrated adequate preparation in the discipline to be studied.
  • Have a cumulative 9-12 weighted GPA of 2.5 or higher on high school transcripts.
  • Be a legal California resident

How will students register for the courses?

  • Students must attend the CHC Information and Application Session on June 25th from 10:00-1:00 PM at CHC, where students will complete the online CHC application and will receive additional enrollment paperwork
  • Students will submit their completed paperwork, along with an official transcript, to CHC counselors at REV, the RUSD District Office, or CHC during the week of June 27th
  • The course registration link will go live on July 23rd at 6:00 AM for students to enroll in the designated courses
  • If courses reach capacity, students will be placed on a waiting list until a determination is made as to whether additional sections can be created
  • Students should attend the first class meeting; if the enrollment is too low, the class will be cancelled

How will students obtain the required books/materials for the course?

  • There will be no cost for RUSD students for books/materials and fees
  • Books/materials will be provided to students on the first day of the course
  • Books/materials will be returned to the CHC instructor at the completion of the course

Are students able to earn high school elective credit?

  • This Partnership Program is strictly a jumpstart on earning college credits
  • Students will NOT receive high school credits through this CHC-RUSD Partnership Program

What if a student does not attend a course for which he/she has registered?

  • CHC guidelines for attendance and grading will be followed; students must follow all guidelines regarding dropping a course
  • Students should confer with the individual instructors regarding their specific class policies
  • Students must attend the first night of class or risk losing their spot to a student on the waiting list

How does a student know if he/she is registered for the class or placed on a waiting list?

  • Via the online registration system, students will receive either a confirmation of registration or a notice that the class is full
  • When a class is full, students are automatically placed on a waiting list
  • Students will receive a Dialout reminder prior to the start of the first course meeting

How do I apply to Crafton Hills College?

All applications for admissions must be submitted online at www.craftonhills.edu/apply.

Where do I turn in my residency (signature sheet) or application?

How do I use a computer to register?

Online access is available in the Library, the Learning Resource Center, and the Admissions and Records Office.

Where do I find information about the specific major I am interested in?

Is the University Transfer Center available to help students identify courses to take for a specific university?

How do these concurrent enrollment classes help towards transfer?

Ultimately, if you are taking a 100-level course, it will transfer to a university satisfying one of the following requirements: General Education, Major, or Elective.  These are the requirements that piece together your degree.  If you have further questions regarding the transferability of a course, please contact Crafton Hills College Counseling Office or University Transfer Center to speak with a counselor, 909-389-3366, and located on the second floor of the Crafton Center building (CCR building).

What classes do I need to transfer to another institution?

Courses needed for successful university transfer will vary according to the desired transfer institution.  For general education coursework needed for CSU’s and UC’s, investigate assist.org, which has general-education course patterns as well as an abundance of other transfer-related information.  Private universities will have their own unique transfer requirements which may be found by going to that university’s website and clicking on the link that says Transfer or Transfer Admission.

When is the best time to go see a counselor if student cannot meet with a counselor during one-on-one date and times?

Are there costs being enrolled in the High School Concurrent program?

There are no costs to be a student in the High School Concurrent program.  However, if you are a high school senior and planning to enroll at Crafton Hills College after high school graduation, you should consider applying for financial aid if you need help with the cost of attending college.  Crafton Hills College Financial Aid Office is here to help. No student should be denied access to the educational experience because of a lack of funds. The distribution of these funds is regulated by laws designed to direct education support funds to those who need them most. Learn more about financial aid at Crafton Hills College.
