Dual Enrollment for RUSD Students: A College Partnership Program

The Dual Enrollment for RUSD Students is a partnership between the Redlands Unified School District and Crafton Hills College.  The Partnership Program began as a pilot program for RUSD high school students during the spring semester of 2016.  Students who enrolled in the program participated in evening college courses taught by CHC instructors on the high school campuses, free of charge.  This pilot program consisted of seven courses, representing several disciplines, including: American Sign Language, College Arabic, Introduction to Engineering, Introduction to Fire Technology, Modern Dance, Music Theory, and Introduction to Sociology.  All of the courses provided students with college credit that was transferrable to any UC, Cal State, or community college.

Based on a collaborative effort between the Redlands Unified School District and Crafton Hills College, as well as a desire to foster positive community relationships that emphasize college and career pathways, the Partnership Program will be an area of focus in the coming years.  To promote a "college-going" culture within a climate of positivity and growth, the courses, along with the changing needs of the students, will be continuously monitored in order to best provide the most relevant college experience possible.  As we look to the future of our students and their college and career readiness, we are excited to be able to offer a program that helps all students jumpstart their futures!
