Student Senate: It Does the Student Body Good 

Every student enrolled at Crafton Hills College is a member of the Associated Students. The Student Senate is the governing board of the Associated Students.

The Student Senate exists to serve current and future students by establishing a foundation that fosters involvement, awareness and unity.

The Student Senate meets every other Friday, 2:30 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. via Zoom and in-person in room CCR-155. Please email epaddock@craftonhills.edu for meeting information.

Qualifications for Eligibility on the Student Council:

  • To be eligible for the Student Senate, California Education Code requires a minimum
    GPA of 2.0 and enrollment in at least five units.

Term Limits, Removal Procedures, and Filling Vacated Offices:

  • Student Council members serve one-year terms.
  • Members may be removed from office by a 2/3 majority vote via public ballot. They will
    be notified one week prior to the vote and will have the opportunity to present their case
    at the next Student Senate meeting.
  • Vacancies are filled through a nomination vote or line of succession, as outlined in the
    ASG bylaws.

Preparation of the Budget:

  • The Senate budget is drafted at the start of the academic year by the Finance Director
    and must be approved by the Senate with a 2/3 majority vote.

Approval of Expenses:

  • Expenses are approved during official Senate meetings by a 2/3 majority roll-call vote.

Budget Approval Process and Monitoring:

  • The budget is prepared by the Finance Director in consultation with co-advisors and is
    approved by a 2/3 majority vote. The Finance Director and Budget Advisory Committee
    will monitor and update the budget as needed.

Financial Reports and Statements:

  • The Senate Director and Finance co-advisors will generate an annual budget and track
    expenses for reporting to the Student Senate.
