Dear Roadrunners,
The fall semester is in full
swing and energy on campus is high!
October promises to be a busy and
exciting month as we step into Hispanic
Heritage Month and gear up for our many
transfer events, career fair, Club Rush,
and Undocumented Student Action Week.
Thank you to everyone who has helped
organize these events for our students so
they can have as many opportunities
available to them as possible. And
looking ahead into November, Crafton
Hills College will once again serve as a
registered polling location for the
midterm election.
Our annual fundraising gala,
“Bright Nights, Brighter Futures,” was a
great success and very well attended. In
total, we raised $205,000 and that money
will help us support our students even
further. Thank you to everyone who helped
organize it and thank you to everyone who
attended!
As discussed at our
In-Service, we have been consistently
working on improving the outcomes for our
students and now boast a 79% student
success rate, with a 71% success rate among
our African American students and a 77%
success rate among our Hispanic students.
These statistics represent a sizeable
(7%) improvement over the past 5 years,
and we are working to continue this trend
into the future.
On the administration side
of things, we have been working on
searching for a new hire to take Keith’s
place when he retires. First and second
level interviews will be taking place the
first week of October. Representatives
from across the campus as well as our
constituents and groups are being
involved throughout the process. We are
planning on taking the successful
candidate to the November 12 Board of
Trustees meeting for approval. I
understand this will be a big change, but
I am hopeful that the transition will be
smooth, despite how much we will all miss
Keith.
Thank you all for your
continued commitment to our students and
their success. October will offer many
more opportunities for our students to
get involved and take advantage of
numerous opportunities. I hope you enjoy
the cooler weather and can’t wait to
share more updates next month!
Best regards,

From Crafton Student at 15
to Award-Winning Educator
|
|
|
Long before Teresa Thompson
became an award-winning accounting
professor, author and national presenter,
she was a 15-year-old Crafton Hills
College student struggling with math. “I
really struggled in math,” Thompson
recalled during a recent return visit to
Crafton. “I had great math teachers here.
It helped. It made the difference.”

What is
Measure Y? After
listening to local residents, SBCCD’s
Board placed Measure Y, the Local College
Affordability, Job Training, Repairs
Measure, on the November 3 ballot. If
approved, it would repair and update
classrooms and labs at Crafton Hills
College and Valley College, including
spaces where students train for
firefighting, nursing and skilled trades
careers. It would cost about $25 a year
per $100,000 of assessed property value
while bonds are outstanding. By law,
citizen oversight and public
accountability for all spending are
required.

Employee Climate Survey
Results
|
|
|
The Employee Climate Survey
for Fall 2025 showed broad improvements
since the Fall 2023 survey.
Overall, the results of the
campus climate survey reflect a generally
positive perception across key areas, with
strong levels of agreement in domains
such as inclusiveness, resource
alignment, and aspects of planning and
program review. Compared to previous
survey findings, there was an increase in
participation and overall levels of
agreement, suggesting growing engagement
and, in many areas, improving sentiment
across the campus community.
