3-20-20 CHC Management Team Communication
Dear Crafton Community,
As we transition to as much online learning and services as possible for the safety of our students, employees, and community, we realize that many of our students will face major impacts on a number of fronts. We want to ensure that as many of our students as possible will be able to move forward toward completing their educational goals. Together we are here to help them along with the many adjustments they have to make, such as moving to online instruction and accessing online support services.
Beginning March 30, 2020, the CHC Library will be open for computer use & Chromebook check-out Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There are a limited number of Chromebooks available on a first-come first-served basis.
Considerations are being made for students who will be adversely affected by losses in wages as well as unexpected expenses. The Crafton Hills College Foundation is actively working to support the essential needs of our students through student emergency assistance funds. These limited funds are available to assist Crafton students facing emergency or unexpected financial burdens who would otherwise be forced to postpone or abandon their educational journey without financial assistance. To ensure we are able to provide assistance to students who truly need extraordinary help, we follow a stringent application and selection process. Each student must be referred by a faculty or staff member and submit an application. The application is then reviewed by a committee to determine if the student qualifies for the emergency assistance. If you have a student who is in need of these assistance funds, please refer them using this application form (link inactive). You will need to log in to access the application as it is available only to employees and not directly to students at this time.
Students who are suffering from food insecurity will be able to pick up five non-perishable food and hygiene items from COACH’s Cupboard, our campus food pantry. This service will be open March 30, 2020 through the end of the semester Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. – Noon in a NEW LOCATION - Student Life Office (CCR-150). Students must bring a current student ID and be currently enrolled to be eligible for this service.
We know that this is a rapidly evolving situation, but we are looking for help from those who can, to support #TeamCrafton through monthly payroll deductions to allow the Foundation to sustain the student assistance fund to help students cover their basic needs during this developing time. We appreciate all of you who are already a part of #TeamCrafton and President’s Circle which allows us the ability to respond to the needs of our students in this type of situation.
The majority of student services will be available beginning Monday, March 23 via the website. All student services will be online and available as of March 30. There is a faculty resource page with information and links that may be helpful.
Thank you for your understanding and help as we work as a college to take measures to keep our campus and community safe, healthy and focused on learning.
Stay well,
CHC Management Team
