Welcome to the Kinesiology and Health Department. Our department offers a variety of classes that are associate degree applicable and transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

In Kinesiology, our goal is to promote health through physical activity. We offer activity courses that are fun, current and will inspire lifelong participation beyond your years at Crafton. There is something in our department for everyone. Here are just a few of courses we offer.

Fitness courses designed to improve your overall physical fitness and well being:

  • Aerobic Conditioning including Zumba
  • Total Body Fitness
  • Resistance and Weight Training
  • Walking for Fitness
  • Hiking for Fitness

Aquatics courses taught in our 50 meter Olympic pool first used during the 2004 US Olympic Trials in Long Beach:

  • Swimming
  • Water Aerobics and Deep Water Exercise

Technique courses offering instruction in the practice of some of today's most widely practiced activities which build strength and endurance as well as reduce stress and anxiety:

  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Tai Chi

Sports and skill-based courses for both beginners as well as intermediate and advanced players wanting to improve their performance:

  • Golf
  • Tennis
  • Soccer
  • Karate

Dance courses allowing you to improve your cardiovascular fitness while enjoying music and the company of others:

  • Hip Hop and Funk
  • Ballroom, Swing and Salsa
  • Jazz

Our department also offers lower-division major preparation courses including KIN 200 Introduction to Kinesiology and an Associate in Science degree for Transfer in Kinesiology, both of which prepare students to major in kinesiology, exercise science, physical education, athletic training, or pre-physical therapy at a four year college or university.

The department currently offers two Health courses, HEALTH 102 and HEALTH 263, that transfer to UC and CSU and fulfill general education requirements for both the associate degree and transfer. Consult the College Catalog or Class Schedule for more information.
