Dear Roadrunners,

As part of our in-service meeting at the beginning of the semester, we had the opportunity to review key findings from our Fall 2023 Campus Climate Survey. I want to reiterate the three areas of focus identified by our research team which will guide our work moving forward.

First, many respondents expressed a desire for clearer and more consistent communication across campus, particularly related to campus decisions and institutional processes. While many employees feel generally informed, the feedback shows there is room to improve how information is shared and how transparent our processes feel.

Second, the survey emphasized the importance of mental health and well-being. Faculty and staff shared the need for increased support, resources, and training focused on employee well-being, reinforcing the importance of caring for one another as a campus community.

Finally, respondents noted a need for greater transparency in planning, program review, and the annual prioritization process. While planning and decision-making were viewed positively overall, clearer communication about how priorities and funding decisions are made remains an important opportunity for improvement.

These findings provide valuable insight and direction as we continue working to improve our campus climate. I encourage you to keep these focus areas in mind as we move forward together, supporting one another and contributing to a positive, transparent, and healthy campus environment.

Best regards,

Kevin Horan
