The Tutoring Center offers a series of review workshops that will help new students prepare to take the mathematics assessment.
The Purpose:
These workshops are intended to help students identify concepts and math problems that need to be reviewed prior to the assessment. This will prepare students to take the assessment and as a result it will allow them to be placed in the appropriate math course. Placing in the wrong math course, can extend a student’s time at CHC by 13 semesters. Therefore, placing in the appropriate math class will save students time and money by allowing them to complete their educational goals sooner than if they place in the wrong math class. Please note that students can only enroll in the math classes into which they assess and that students cannot retake the assessment for 2 years.
What to expect at the workshop:
Students will go over a quick review of concepts and math problems according to the math level of the workshop. Students need to bring paper and pencil/pen since they are expected to take notes during the workshop.
What to do after the workshop:
After students have identified the concepts and math problems that they need to review prior to the assessment, they need to spend some time reviewing these concepts until they feel comfortable with them. The next step will be to contact the Assessment/Testing Center and set up an appointment to take the assessment.
Parking:
A daily parking permit will be required. Vehicles parked without a parking permit will be cited.
