Qualifications to Join

In order to become a member of the College Honors Institute (CHI) you must meet the following requirements:

  • New Students: Must show evidence of an unweighted cumulative 3.25 GPA or higher in all high school courses
  • Current Students: Completion of 12 transferable units with a 3.25 cumulative GPA in all transferable work

 

Active Participation

To maintain your membership in CHI you must adhere to the following membership requirements:

  • Completion of at least one honors course per year
  • Update an education plan with honors program counselor each year
  • Earn an A or B in all honors courses
  • Maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA 
  • Complete required Participation Points each semester. (See Coordinator for details.)

Requirements for Completion

To complete the CHI program you must meet the following requirements:

  • Completion of 15 semester units in honors courses with a grade of A or B
  • A cumulative college GPA of 3.25 or higher in all transferable course work
  • Completion of 15 hours of approved community service
  • Complete required Participation Points for each semester.
  • Completion of associates degree requirements and/or fulfillment of admissions/transfer requirements for a four-year institution
