CHC Art Gallery Presents "Social Art for Change" by Beatriz Mejia-Krumbein, January 22-February 22
The Art Gallery at Crafton Hills College will present a solo exhibition by BEATRIZ MEJIA-KRUMBEIN titled “Social Art for Change” between January 22 and February 22. The opening reception for Ms. Mejia-Krumbein’s exhibition will be held on January 30 from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Mejia-Krumbein is originally from Columbia, and has lived and worked in Germany, Mexico and the United States. She is currently the Chair of the Art Department at La Sierra University and Director of the Brandstater Gallery in Riverside, California.
The paintings and installations presented in this exhibition are expressive and powerful voices in exploration of displacement, oppression and violence that in Beatriz's words "express a genuine concern for human rights, and make a call for solidarity." The media and material experimentation that are reflective and appropriate to the topic contributes to the work intent to capture "the silence and the moan of a humanity that suffers the consequences of oppression" as expressed in Mejia-Krumbein's artists statement.
The Art Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and by appointment. For more information or for individual showings, please call 909-389-3349.
