Dr. Cheryl Marshall
The Board of Trustees of the San Bernardino Community College District (District) has officially appointed Dr. Cheryl Marshall as the Interim President of Crafton Hills College (CHC) upon the retirement of President Gloria Macías Harrison on July 2. Dr. Marshall is the current Vice President of Instruction at CHC.
Gloria Macías Harrison, President of Crafton Hills College since 2000, said, “We are fortunate to have such an experienced leader stepping into an essential position. I have had the pleasure of working closely with Cheryl for these past five years and I know that she will always keep the students first as she works with faculty, staff and her team of administrators guiding the college.”
Chancellor Bruce Baron said, “I am looking forward to working with Cheryl Marshall as we move Crafton Hills College forward. She is a positive and hard-working individual whose leadership skills have earned her the respect of her campus.”
“It is an honor to serve the College and the District as Interim President of Crafton Hills. I have a deep respect for my colleagues at Crafton Hills and have enjoyed working with them for the past five years. I look forward to a new adventure and to continuing the great progress we’ve made as an educational institution,” said Dr. Marshall.
Under general direction of the Chancellor and the Board of Trustees, the college president plans, organizes, coordinates, directs and administers all departments, programs, activities, budgets and personnel of the college; implements District policies and procedures as they affect college activities; represents the college to the community and directs the development of quality educational programs; participates in the development, review and addressing of general District policies; performs related duties as required.
Biographical Information on Cheryl Marshall:
Dr. Cheryl Marshall has served as the Vice President of Instruction at Crafton Hills College since July 2007. Her operational duties include oversight of all instruction in three divisions which encompass over 35 programs. As the Accreditation Liaison Officer for the College since 2008, Dr. Marshall led the successful efforts to resolve all findings from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges; the Commission removed the College from sanctions in February 2011. She has also chaired a variety of committees on campus including the Educational Master Plan Committee, Planning and Program Review, Accreditation, and Educational Technology. Prior to joining Crafton Hills College, Dr. Marshall worked at Mt. San Antonio College in several administrative positions including Associate Dean of Business and Director of the Center of Excellence. Prior to working in the Community College System, she was a “freeway flyer” teaching business and human resources courses at Cal Poly Pomona, Claremont Graduate University, Azusa Pacific, and others, while maintaining a training and consulting business.
