One of Mozart's most performed operas, "Cosi fan tutte," will be at the Finkelstein Performing Arts Center from March 31-April 3. A combined effort of the University of Redlands School of Music and Crafton Hills College's theatre and dance departments, the show will be presented in Italian with English supertitles.
Tickets are $20 general, $10 student and may be purchased by visiting the University of Redlands Campus Events Office or by calling (909) 748-8116. Performance information is available at 909.748.8700. Parking for the event is free.
This is the fourth collaboration between the two schools. The Opera is directed by UR Artist Professor of Music Marco Schindelmann; the music will be provided by the University of Redlands Orchestra, conducted by Co Boi Nguyen also affiliated with the University of Redlands; and the production designer is UR alumna Haley Keim, a costume and makeup professional now in Los Angeles. Kevin Palkki of Crafton Hills College is the lighting designer.
Featuring some of the composer's most beautiful music, "Cosi fan tutte" is Mozart's take on a classic theme of fiancée-swapping as an old philosopher proves to a quartet of young lovers that fidelity is nothing more than a pipe dream. The six performers are all UR School of Music students and the dancers and technical crew are CHC students. The cast list, with their role and home towns, is comprised of the following:
- Manuel Heredia (Guglielmo) Apple Valley
- Bradley Franklin (Don Alphonso) Moreno Valley
- Mario Rios (Ferrando) Palm Desert
- Jessica Soza (Fioriligi) Fontana (graduate student at UR)
- Emily Collins (Dora Bella) Hemet
- Jasmine Tomita (Desipna) LaVern
