Dancing to the Jail House Rock - Theme of Foundation GALA

The 2011 CHC Foundation Gala Dinner & Auction is Sat., April 9, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Hilton San Bernardino Grand Ballroom. Themed “Dancing to the Jailhouse Rock: Spend the Evening with Elvis”, attendees will eat well, watch a student dance performance, participate in an Elvis Look Alike contest, listen to the CHC Jazz Band, bid for gifts in both an opportunity drawing and a live auction, dance, and have the chance to bail their friends and family out of jail, all in the name of fund raising for a great cause: to support CHC students.

Family Day at the CDC March 30

The CHC Child Development Center Spring Family Day is Wednesday, March 30, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids can partake of a range of activities including art and face painting. Lunch will be served. No cost to attend, something for every age! The CHC Child Development students and the CHC Child Development and Education Club members provide lots of assistance for the event. Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte Mar. 31 thru Apr. 3

One of Mozart's most performed operas, "Cosi fan tutte," will be at the Finkelstein Performing Arts Center from March 31-April 3. A combined effort of the University of Redlands School of Music and Crafton Hills College's theatre and dance departments, the show will be presented in Italian with English supertitles.

CHC Resource Director Appointed to Posts

Cheryl L. Bardowell, Director of Resource Development and Crafton Hills College Foundation was named to the Board of Directors of the San Bernardino Estate Planning Council and as treasurer of the Inland Empire Estate Planning Roundtable. Membership in these organizations is made up of local professionals in legal, financial, and allied fields as well as fund-raising professionals whose focus is on estate planning and on charitable planned giving.

Flags at Half Staff March 15

As a mark of respect for the memory of Army Corporal Frank W. Buckles, the last surviving American veteran of World War I, and in remembrance of the generation of American veterans of World War I,  President Barack Obama has issued a proclamation ordering the flag of the United States to be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds until sunset on the day of his interment, March 15, 2011.

Campus Seeking Graduation Speaker!

For the fourth year, commencement exercises at Crafton Hills College will include a speech delivered by a graduating student.  The College is seeking students who are interested in representing your graduation class as this speaker.  To apply, fill out the attached application.  Initial applications are due no later than March 18 and should be returned to the Office of Student Life (SC 107).

Chairman Ramos to Speak March 15

James Ramos, Chairman of the San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians, Trustee of the SBCCD, and member of the California State Board of Education will speak to the campus and the public on March 15 at 1 p.m. in the Finkelstein Performing Arts Center. Hosted by the Phi Beta Lambda chapter of CHC, the event is free. The Chairman will speak on how history and culture drive a sense of community.

Sand Canyon Review Invites Submissions

The Sand Canyon Review, the student-run art and literary magazine Crafton Hills College is currently fundraising and taking open submissions. Whether you are experienced or just beginning, professional or novice, you are invited to submit your poems, short stories, creative non-fiction, flash fiction, photography, or artwork for possible publication. Submissions must be received by March 18th to be considered for the magazine's 4th ed.
