The inaugural California’s First Cultures: A Celebration at Crafton Hills/Waa’t stage performance was held in the Performing Arts Center Friday, November 19. The event was held in recognition of Native American Heritage Month and in observance of the Native American Heritage Day on November 26.

The inaugural California's First Cultures: A Celebration at Crafton Hills/Waa't stage performance will be held in the Performing Arts Center Friday, Nov.19. on the campus of Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa at 6pm. The event is held in recognition of Native American Heritage Month and in observance of the Native American Heritage Day on November 26.

President Obama proclaimed November 2010 as National Native American Heritage Month and called upon all Americans to commemorate this month with appropriate programs and activities, and to celebrate November 26, 2010, as Native American Heritage Day. First Cultures partners have heeded this call and invite people of the San Bernardino Valley to experience an evening of music, dance and story.

The stage performance will bring together Native American singers and dancers in the spirit of unity to share with attendees the sights and sounds of their traditional and contemporary story and music. The White Rose Hand Drum group from Sherman Indian High School in Riverside will join southern California bird singers from the Serrano, Cahuilla and Mojave tribes for an education program moderated by Juaneño Indian storyteller Jacque Nunez.

WHO: San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Crafton Hills College, Yucaipa Historical Society, Dorothy Ramon Learning Center, Native Storyteller Jacque Nunez (Juaneño) and tribal musicians from the San Manuel, Santa Rosa, Fort Mojave, and Morongo Indian Nations as well as the White Rose Hand Drum Group from Sherman Indian High School.
