G.E.M. Award Recipients February 2005
Crafton Hills Grounds Department

The Professional Development Committee awards GEM ("Going the
Extra Mile") Awards to groups including disciplines, programs, service areas,
committees and other groups that go above and beyond their assigned duties to conduct
activities, sponsor events, reach out to the community, etc. as representatives of the
college. After reviewing nominations received within the past few months, the committee
has selected the Grounds Department as most recent receipient of the
award. The college's mission statement reminds us that we work in a "serene,
welcoming environment." Perhaps no department is more integral to maintaining
the beauty of the campus than Grounds. According to their nomination, "Grounds
personnel, through rain, sleet, wind, and snow, keep our grounds looking more than
clean. They are spectacularly landscaped and manicured." They were recognized
especially for the hard work they put in after the unusually large snowstorm in the
fall. Our congratulations and thanks goes to the Grounds department.
We invite you to recognize your colleages through this award as well. To make a
nomination, go to the following webpage and complete the form.
