• What is the timeline for acceptance into the full-time,  Fall paramedic program starting in August?

• What is the timeline for acceptance into the part-time, Spring paramedic program starting in January?

The general timeline breakdown for the Fall program is as follows: Applications due - early March Written Entrance Exams - early April Oral Entrance Exams - early May Selection into Program - mid May Start Date - mid January Didactic (classroom) Portion - January to June Clinical Portion - June to August Field Portion - September to December End Date - end December
• What is the difference between the part-time and full-time programs?
  During the didactic portion of the program students in the full-time program go to class four days a week (Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm) as opposed to three days per week in the part-time program (Tuesday-Thursday 9am-6pm).
• How many times can I take the entrance exams for the program?
  If you fail one or both of the written exams the first time you test, you will be allowed one more opportunity to pass the exams, but not until the next testing process. If you fail a second time, your application is expired and you will need to submit a new application to test again. If you pass the written exams but fail the oral testing component, you will be allowed one more opportunity to pass the oral exam, but not until the next testing process. If you fail a second time, your application will be expired and you will need to submit a new application to test again. If you fail any of the entrance exams and you wish to test again, you will be required to submit a written request to the paramedic program director or department secretary. Sample written request: January 23, 2008 I, John Doe, wish to have my application forwarded to the testing process for class 73.
• Is there a specific form my doctor needs to use to document my physical?
  Yes. You must use the Pre-Entrance Medical Clearance Form.
• If I successfully complete the application and all the entrance exams, am I guaranteed a spot in the next paramedic class?
  You are not guaranteed a spot. However, nearly half of our applicant pool fails one or more of the entrance exams. After the testing is completed we often have a small enough pool to accept everyone that successfully completed the exams. If we have too many qualified applicants the list of qualified candidates is sent to a representative for the private and public ALS providers in San Bernardino county. Each representative (1 for private and 1 for public) selects 10 candidates from the list. Those 20 candidates are guaranteed seats in the program. The remaining available seats will be selected using a lottery draw.
