Qualifications to Join
In order to become a member of the College Honors Institute (CHI) you must meet the following requirements:
- New Students: 3.0 GPA or higher or SAT score of 1100 or higher or ACT score of 25 or higher
- Current Students: 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA after the completion of 12 transferable units
- All Students: must be eligible for a transferable level mathematics course (MATH 102 or above) and must be eligible for ENGL 101
Students may petition for a waiver of the math or English requirement if they obtain a recommendation from an instructor teaching an honors course.
Active Participation
To maintain your membership in CHI you must adhere to the following membership requirements:
- Completion of at least one honors course per year
- Update an education plan with honors program counselor each year
- Earn an A or B in all honors courses
Requirements for Completion
To complete the CHI program you must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of 15 semester units in honors course materials with a grade of A or B
- A cumulative college GPA of 3.25 or higher
- Completion of an approved form of 15 community service hours
- Completion of associates degree requirements and/or fulfillment of admissions/transfer requirements for a four-year institution
