Qualifications to Join
In order to become a member of the College Honors Institute (CHI) you must meet the following requirements:
- All students must be eligible for a transferable level mathematics course (MATH 102 or above) and must be eligible for ENGL 101
- New Students: Must show evidence of a cumulative 3.25 GPA or higher in all high school courses
- Current Students: Completion of 12 transferable units with a 3.25 cumulative GPA in all transferable work
Students may petition for a waiver of the math or English requirement if they obtain a recommendation from an instructor teaching an honors course.
Active Participation
To maintain your membership in CHI you must adhere to the following membership requirements:
- Completion of at least one honors course per year
- Update an education plan with honors program counselor each year
- Earn an A or B in all honors courses
Requirements for Completion
To complete the CHI program you must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of 15 semester units in honors courses with a grade of A or B
- A cumulative college GPA of 3.25 or higher in all transferable
- Completion of 15 hours of approved community service
- Completion of associates degree requirements and/or fulfillment of admissions/transfer requirements for a four-year institution
