EMS 022 Basic Life Support for EMT-Basic 0.5

These courses are co-requisites and must be taken during the same semester. The EMS 020, 021, 022, and 023 courses are usually offered two times per year - spring and fall. You must be at least 18 years of age to take these courses. During the duration of the course you will be required to gain some experience in a field or clinical setting. If you choose to gain that experience in a clinic, you will be required to get a background check prior to the start of your clinical experience, but not prior to starting the EMT Program.

After you have successfully completed all four courses, you will take the National Registry Written Exam. If you pass this exam, you will be required to undergo a Department of Justice background check with live scan. Upon successfully completion of the National Registry Written Exam and a cleared background check, you will be certified as an EMT-1.
