University of Connecticut Literacy Site

The University of Connecticut has developed an on-line literacy site. Here is their description of what it does:"The Literacy Web is designed to promote the use of the Internet as a tool to assist classroom teachers in their search for best practices in literacy instruction, including the new literacies of Internet technologies. We have made every attempt to link teachers with current research and theory that supports traditional and new literacy practices as well as to guide teachers towards particular classroom resources that can enhance literacy development for students at all grade levels."

LINCS

LINCS - the Literacy Information and Communication System - is the premier on-line information and communications network for adult and family literacy.

PBS Kids

PBS Kids broadcasts various programs that encourage reading by children. Their web site provides games, stories, talent show, music and coloring activities for children and valuable resources for parents and teachers.

The Rust Foundation for Literacy promotes literacy among children.

Children's Literacy Initiative helps teachers improve children's literacy skills.
