Arrival and Departure Procedures
- Children are only allowed in the Center during their contracted hours, unless
previous arrangements have been made. If a State Preschool parent brings a child
for less than the contracted hours (brought in an hour late, picked up two hours
early, etc.), a reason must be provided. If no reason is provided and the state
refuses to pay for the day, fees will be charged directly to the parent. Based on
licensing regulations and the fact that teachers need time to set up and discuss the
day to come, children may not enter a classroom until 7:00 am. If you arrive early,
please wait with your child outside the classroom until school starts. Due to the
nature of the program, children enrolled in the afternoon State Preschool may not
be dropped off before 1:00 pm, unless prior arrangements have been made.

- It is each parent's responsibility to sign his/her child in and out each day, in the book and on the computer. Please sign your full name and use a consistent signature. We are sorry, but initials cannot be accepted. Please do not sign your child both in and out at the same time in the morning. Failure to follow procedure may result in termination of services.
- You must personally deliver/pickup your child to his/her classroom and make direct contact with the teacher. Children are not allowed to enter or leave the classroom area without a parent (even if your child requests it, so s/he can feel like a big kid!). The parent must also wait for a teacher to conduct a health check and confirm that the child has on appropriate footwear (no sandals or open toe shoes) before signing in the child for the day.
- If someone other than the parent or caregiver is picking up a child, they must be 18 years or older, listed on the emergency card (as someone authorized to pick up your child) and bring a picture ID. If someone other than an authorized person will be picking your child up, you must notify the Center in advance. For the first few weeks of enrollment, parents and caregivers may be asked to show a picture ID as well. This is for the protection of your child, so please comply willingly with these requests.
- All adults picking up a child must stop at the front desk and get a pass card. You must then take the pass card to your child's classroom and give it to a teacher. This lets the teacher know that ID's have been checked, identity verified, and that this person is "okay" to pick up the child.
- Parents must, each day, check two places at departure:
- Your child's cubby. Each day you should take home projects, papers, etc. Also, wet or soiled clothing must go home and be returned (washed and rebagged) the following day. These are located in the child's classroom.
- Your parent file (located in the front office). Important notes, letters, correspondence etc. will be filed in your file and/or on the parent board.
- Parking is available directly in front of the Child Development Building. Please do not park in the spaces marked CHC Staff or CDC Staff. Please do not park directly in front of the building if you plan to spend time with your child in the classroom (there is a 15 minute time limit) and DO NOT block the fire lane to the right of the building. Please follow a counter-clockwise pattern when parking in front of the building.
